Have to relearn Excel. Similar in some ways to Windows version. But, some Excel features in this Mac version are completely different.
Microsoft did well with this release. Also, it is so easy to create first class Covers, Tables of Contents etc. Also, I work in Outline format a lot and can see it constantly as I switch from Outline to Pubilishing Layouts.
Am writing five books at once and Word 2004 and a couple of fairly good Desk Top Publisher apps (including Pages ) have not been as capable as Word 2008. However, Word 2008 retains many standard features and commands of predecessor Word apps that I have been using since the late 80s. Best investment in software I have made in years.
Love the Publishing Layout with the Document Map on the left side of the window. Now if they only keep up with Apple and upcoming release of Snow Leopard (OS 10.6). Still have much to learn on how to insert graphics.
Not as easy as Pages when inserting graphics thus far.
When it won't even start up, you know it's bad. Well, after a clean wipe of the harddrive and complete reinstall of Leopard, and then a fresh install of a brand new Office 2008 right out of the box, every single one of the applications crashes on startup and none of the suggestions in any of the forums online solve the problem. So I'm going to have to give this an enormous thumbs down, worst program I've ever purchased.
Works great for the majority of my requirements. Received this earlier than scheduled. If not go to the more powerful full version of Office and you will be covered. If you are like the majority of the folks out there, this should be fine for 80-90% of what you use. No brainer install and getting up to speed. Changed over from a PC and this program converts all of my docs over easily and almost seemlessly.
it is worth the $110 and has product codes for three different computers, which is also awesome. i agree that Office 2008 is far superior, and would definitely recommend it to anyone ordering a mac. while it is certainly ironic to say that microsoft would be writing the best office suite software for mac, the fact of the matter is they do. my brother originally ordered iWorks on his mac and after trying it ordered Office 2008.
